Infrastructure, Imperialism and Occupation: A short photo essay

A quick way to tell if someone is an honest broker in the debate over Iraq is use of the claim that we damaged the infrastructure of this nation, now or in the past. Throughout much of Iraq, Saddam never got around to building much of an infrastructure.

A second red flag should fly upon use of the words "occupation" and "imperialism." While thoughtful arguments have been made with those loaded terms, most usage falls into the category of what used to be called the radical left but now, sadly, falls squarely into the mainstream of the Democrat Party.

Here's a sewer system that was part of Saddam-era infrastructure creation - left carefully intact by the US Air Force.

Most people who buy into the "we destroyed the infrastructure" meme would also believe:

Saddam lavished millions on a beautiful People's Museum of Agricultural Antiquities. This was all that remained after Coalition bombing.

Or this:

Saddam's love for live nativity scenes was well-known throughout the region. Many of these animals' lives are now in jeopardy as Coalition forces have failed to provide proper veterinary care for these voiceless victims of the occupation.

Here's one of our docs transmitting cultural imperialism through his stethoscope. Very clever, eh?

Your left-wing buddies will enjoy this picture of American imperialists stealing Iraqi oil distributing food.

Healthcare for Iraqis was a huge priority for Saddam. He spent billions next to nothing to ensure their well-being.

Enemies of victory can make bogus claims about infrastructure and rail against non-existent imperialism and occupation all day long, but we will win the battle for Iraq. Our enemies have nothing to offer but decades of totalitarian darkness. And, given the chance, no nation will choose that road.
