March 29, 2005Tax tricksBill Hobbs points to one of the cheap rhetorical ploys used by people who want to raise your taxes. I refer to it as the "we're 49th in X spending in the country" ruse. Currently, 8 states claim to be 49th in education spending (Tennessee is one of them). In the budget wars of the late'90's/early '00's, income tax supporters trotted out this canard repeatedly. It's basically a nice way of calling you a selfish oaf for not cheerfully giving more of your hard-earned money to the government. Posted by Lance Frizzell at March 29, 2005 03:35 AM |
