Humbling

These photos were taken recently at a program by/for children whose parents were either murdered by Saddam or killed during the Iran/Iraq War. Most of the children live with their next of kin but the event, translated, was called "World Orphan Day." The shocking part was the large number of kids in what is a relatively small town.

They had a cute show that looked like what you would see at any elementary school in the states. Lots of singing, dancing and even fake snow. We loaded them up with practical stuff as well as toys (all donated by generous Tennesseans) and a medical visit. It would be nice to do more but they have already received the greatest gift - their future is their own to make.
